  • A violent confrontation involving India and Pakistan took place in 1971. On December 3, 1971, Pakistan launched anticipatory attacks against 11 Indian Air Force sites. As a result, the Indian Army consented to back Bengali republican organizations in East Pakistan's fight for Bangladesh's independence.
  • The extensive demolition of the East Pakistani people committed by the authoritarian martial government of Pakistan, led by General Yahya Khan, was indeed the impetus for the warfare.
  • The conflict was brief but severe, taking place in both the Eastern and Western aspects. The government launched Operation Trident on December 4, 1971. During this operation, the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy successfully deployed a surprise attack on Karachi harbor. Trident served as the nom de guerre for it.
  • The Mukti Bahini insurgents in East Pakistan collaborated with Indian forces to combat Pakistani ground forces in the region. The Southern Division protected the country's sovereignty during the conflict from Pakistani aggression. The legendary battles of Longewala and Parbat Ali are among the conflicts fought in the Southern Army's active region. Meanwhile, tenacious Indian troops decimated Pakistan's armored forces.
  • On December 14, the IAF targeted a residence in which a conference with the East Pakistani administrator was transpiring. This strike left Pakistan in disarray. As an outcome, the process of surrender commenced on December 16 and culminated with the capitulation of almost 93,000 Pakistani personnel.
